Career Summary
The Career Navigator is responsible for providing technical assistance and support to customers participating in workforce programs, conducting assessments, and identifying customer eligibility.
Essential Functions
- Assists customers entering the workforce center or engaging virtually by performing essential workforce services and functions.
- Conducts one-on-one sessions to identify immediate needs and determine if customers require program enrollment or referral to the Placement Center or other service areas.
- Collects, analyzes, researches, and determines program requirements and customer eligibility.
- Identifies barriers to employment and customer eligibility for critical workforce programs and services.
- Obtains and prepares relevant customer information for data entry and customer file preparation.
- Provides information to co-workers, supervisors, and other staff members regarding workforce programs and services.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of workforce development, economic development, business intelligence, and trends.
- Knowledge of management techniques and practices including planning, strategy development, and implementation.
- Word processing, spreadsheet, and technology skills.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to understand and apply federal and state program eligibility guidelines.
- Effective working relationships with management, coworkers, Board staff, and the general public.
- Strategy development and solution creation ability.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Undergraduate degree from an accredited university or college in a relevant field of study and one (1) year of relevant experience preferred.
- Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education.
- Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance with a good driving record.
- Ability to relocate within the service delivery area.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
Physical Demands
- Lifting up to 10 pounds occasionally.
- Standing, sitting, bending, and walking to perform job scope.
- Visual acuity, speech, and hearing required.
- Office environment with occasional driving and travel.
- Flexible working hours may be required.
