Essential Position Responsibilities
- Hands-on experience in live operations and multiple poultry, pet food and animal nutrition plants.
- Exposure to aspects of Simmons business including supply chain, sales, finance, and continuous improvement.
- Investment in and development of leadership skills through classroom training, mentoring, and on-the-job coaching.
- Placement into a Production Supervisor position after program completion.
- Continued investment in learning and development as part of Simmons’ growth.
- Acceptance of responsibility for special projects driving innovation and continuous improvement.
- Evaluation and feedback/coaching throughout the program.
Leadership Development
- Investment in and development of leadership skills through various training methods.
- Placement into a Production Supervisor role after successful completion of the program.
- Responsibility for delivering product for internal and/or external customers.
- Leading, coaching, motivating, and ensuring safety of team members.
- Ownership of continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participation in team meetings and fostering cohesiveness among team members.
- Performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives.
Program Graduation Placement
- Responsibility for leading team members in their daily work.
- Leading, coaching, and motivating team members.
- Ensuring team safety and success.
- Continuous improvement as part of Simmons’ growth.
- Occasional travel to other facilities after placement into a plant production supervisor role.
Physical Activities
- Entering and locating information on a computer.
- Visually verifying information, often in small print.
- Communicating with Customers, Vendors, or Employees via various means.
- Presenting information to small or large groups.
- Moving about in a manufacturing environment and surrounding property.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Required as per facility policy.
Travel
- Extensive regional travel during the initial six-month rotational program.
- Occasional travel to other facilities after placement into a plant production supervisor role.
Technical Experience
- Willingness to lead, take charge, and desire to take care of people.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Industry Experience
- Preferred experience within a food processing organization.
Minimum Education
- 2 years of education with 2 years experience or a Bachelors degree or 4 years of related experience.
