Career Firefighter (Applicant Pool)
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond to Fire Department incidents and to medical emergency incidents
- Drive, care for and maintain fire apparatus and property
- Perform clerical duties
- Participate in fire prevention activities as assigned
- Perform related work as required
Special Assignments
- E.M.T. Coordinator
- Plan Review Officer
- Hazardous Materials Coordinator
Previous Work Experience
Previous experience in firefighting and emergency medical response is desired.
Education
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Associate’s degree preferred
Special Skills & Training
- Fire Fighter I and II and Hazardous Materials Operations certifications
- State of Michigan Emergency Medical Paramedic License at time of hire

- Current certifications (Fire and EMS Certifications)
- CWW/Schoolcraft College Fire Training Institute’s Testing Programs certificates for the written examination and the candidate physical agility test (CPAT)
Work Schedule
24-hour shifts (1 on 2 off, 1 on, 4 off) and overtime as required.
Pay Rate
$55,533 - $83,281

We are now accepting applications for Fire Fighter to establish an eligibility list for current and future openings. In order to be considered, you are required to complete and submit the City of Farmington Hills online application along with your current certifications (Fire and EMS Certifications).
The Conference of Western Wayne (CWW) and Schoolcraft College Fire Training Institute’s Testing Programs certificates must be turned in for the written examination and the candidate physical agility test (CPAT) before hired.

Candidates will be selected from qualified CWW test participants.
