Grant-funded, full-time position located at DOC – DeSoto Correctional Institution Annex in Arcadia, FL.

About the role

As a Career Development Specialist, you’ll play a key role in providing services related to Compass 100 Hybrid and supplemental in-cell assignments through cell-front instruction for eligible participants who are in restrictive housing as directed by the Lead Educator.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate employability and life skills programs, administration and interpretation of assessments, and training to include the Compass 100 hybrid curriculum and Thinking for a Change.
  • Provide services related to Compass 100 Hybrid and supplemental in-cell assignments through cell-front instruction for eligible participants in restrictive housing as directed by the Lead Educator.
  • Provide services related to Compass 100 Hybrid through a small group setting to eligible participants who are not in restrictive housing as directed by the Lead Educator and other programs as determined by the Department.
  • Facilitate pre-release connections with community providers and employers through face-to-face and technology-based interactions, including pre-release job search, recruitment, and placement activities.
  • Report monthly attendance, program enrollments, and completions in the Department of Corrections approved format.
  • Maintain and provide documentation of services delivered.

Requirements

  • An Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university or a high school diploma.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience in workforce development, social services, or corrections field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An Associate’s Degree and one year of experience in the social services or corrections field.

Pay

$41,200.00 annually.
