About the Role
Counsels and assists Program's customers regarding job search strategies, personal career advisement, and training issues. Identifies and works with barriers to employment, supports professional goal setting and planning, and connects customers with outside resources, programs, and services as needed.
Responsibilities
- Advises, monitors, and tracks customer participation to maximize program functions and opportunities.
- Manages day-to-day customer relationships, addresses concerns promptly with action plans, and documents findings with clear, concise, and timely case notes.
- Maintains knowledge of a vast array of occupations and career paths to effectively place, process, and assess customers, determining the most appropriate services for their career goals.
- Provides motivational support during the job search process and identifies training needs to ensure appropriate training.
- Facilitates job readiness and search workshops.
- Develops strategies for re-engaging customers post-training and securing employment.
- Applies the Case Management Model to support participant needs and documents customer success stories internally and externally.
- Analyzes and critiques resumes and required documentation for effective customer eligibility processing.
- Maintains accurate and complete administrative records and correspondence as required by the Program Director and Customer standards.
- Creates and maintains policies and procedures for Career Advisement and assists in training team members.
- Works under the direction of the Career Advisor Coordinator to facilitate timely task completion, sustain daily operations, and assist with special projects.
- Produces word processing documents, including charts and tables, and proofreads/edits correspondence, memoranda, proposals, reports, and other documents.
- Maintains filing systems and performs other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in psychology, marketing, business, human resources, or related field with two or more years of relevant work experience.
- Experience working with career counseling consumers in a high-volume environment, particularly in human services, workforce development, or an equivalent combination.
Skills
- Strong communication, organization, and computer skills, including publishing and clear, concise writing.
- Ability to relate well with individuals, motivate others, and present workshops, especially for those with barriers to employment.
- Established referral network with human service agencies and ability to provide intervention services.
- Knowledge of job search strategies, resources, and action plans.
- Ability to follow instructions, adapt, and learn quickly.
- Creative, deadline-driven, and goal-oriented with the ability to work under pressure and within a team.
- Demonstrated customer service and computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Familiarity with the communities served, including local needs and resources.
Additional Information
This position supports Stanly and Rowan Counties. Ability to work first shift and overtime if required, and travel when necessary.
