Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive one-on-one career coaching sessions to undergraduate and graduate engineering students, assisting with career exploration, resume and cover letter development, interview preparation, and job search strategies and assist students through the career decision-making process.
  • Audit student skills, interests, strengths, and areas for development to determine the best approach for achieving career goals.
  • Actively engage in career coaching team and CDCR team meetings for updates, collaborations, and ways to best support large CDCR team in upcoming events.
  • Aid in the professional enhancement of students through interview preparation and facilitation of internship and job opportunities.
  • Participate in and support career fairs and other career-related events throughout the academic year.
  • Maintain and update career resources, including online platforms, handouts, and resource guides.
  • Facilitate weekly Nuts + Bolts of Engineering Resumes group coaching sessions for students.
  • Facilitate a variety of requested Career in the Classroom Engagements requested by faculty, staff, and student organizations.
  • Gain knowledge in career development tools and resources such as Handshake, LinkedIn, Big Interview, Salesforce, CareerShift, and various other resources.
  • Support program development and delivery for a variety of career development programs and events for CDCR team.
  • Collaborate with the career coaching team to evaluate and enhance programs and services to address student needs.
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in career development.
  • Promote the university and career services through participation in professional organizations.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the CDCR by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Level I: Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, or related field.
  • Level II: Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, or related field and 2 years of years’ experience in providing career counseling and planning services.
  • Level III: Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, or related field and 4 years of years’ experience in providing career counseling and planning services.
  • SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED FOR EXPERIENCE: Yes, When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
