About The Role
The advisor will meet with undergraduate students during scheduled and walk-in appointments; communicates with undergraduate students on advising issues; participates in Master Advising professional development training; generates and disseminates student reports; works within the HRIS system to review student information and help students register for classes; and serves on committees within the department and across the university.
Provide academic advising
- Advises new freshmen, undecided/exploring, under-prepared students and probationary students at Northern Kentucky University.
- Follows up with at-risk students by effectively managing advising caseloads.
- Affords assistance with the planning and delivery of academic orientation programs.
- Creates presentations for students and other professionals on campus.
- Implements the office's assessment plan for teaching advising student learning outcomes and maintains accurate and up-to-date student records.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
- Strong organizational, attention to detail, and exceptional communication skills are required.
- Ability to articulate an understanding of student development theory.
- Experience working with diverse student populations, especially at-risk and undecided/exploring students.
