About the Role

We’re changing lives every day—for both our patients and our team members. The Care Promoter 1 is an unlicensed medical professional cross-trained to perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical centers running smoothly. Duties vary by setting (size, location, type) and include both administrative and clinical responsibilities under direct physician supervision, in accordance with state medical practice acts. As an integral member of a Physician-led Care Team, you’ll provide excellent and comprehensive primary care for a specific population of patients.

Responsibilities

  • Measure and record patient vital signs; record patient interview and medical history.
  • Catalog and communicate patient needs to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist, and/or other clinical personnel.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests; assist physician with exams; explain treatment procedures and physicians' instructions to patients.
  • Observe patients and report any changes in patient conditions to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist, and/or other clinical personnel.
  • Perform non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures based on medical instructions.
  • Collect phlebotomy and other lab specimens; perform basic waived lab tests.
  • Prepare and administer medications; change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures, and perform other first aid procedures; use CPR skills when necessary, all under physician supervision.
  • Maintain supplies, equipment, stocks, and sterilize instruments; practice OSHA safety standards; perform accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
  • Process patient phone messages, return calls, and route them to other team members as appropriate; call patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for the physician.
  • Upon physician approval and authorization, call in prescriptions to the pharmacy. Use the ChenMed Rx system to support physician medication dispensing (authorized individuals only).
  • Provide health coaching to a defined group of patients to support healthy lifestyle choices; follow up with coached patients via weekly calls.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and modified at manager’s discretion.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education (GED) required.
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited Program in one of the following: Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician Program, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Paramedic.
  • A minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, EMT, or Paramedic.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
  • Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus.
  • EMR system experience preferred.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and partner with team members, including physicians, clinicians, market leaders, center managers, nurses, case managers, and front desk staff.
  • Problem-solving mindset focused on resolving issues for patients and achieving team goals.
  • Knowledge of medical products, terminology, services, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Skilled in basic phone and computer operation; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and other word-processing, spreadsheet, database, email, and presentation software.
  • Detail-oriented to ensure accuracy of reports and data.
  • Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
  • Ability to act calmly in busy or stressful situations.
  • Spoken and written fluency in English.
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally and/or regionally up to 10% of the time to assist in covering other centers, as needed.
  • Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as needed.

Pay

The posted pay range represents the base hourly rate for this position: $17.00 - $24.26. Final compensation will depend on factors including experience, education, geographic location, and other relevant considerations. This position may also be eligible for bonuses or commissions.
