Job Responsibilities
- Prepares patients, assembles and operates hemodynamic and electrophysiologic equipment during interventional and diagnostic procedures.
- Comforts patients by welcoming them to the cardiology suite, answering their questions, and responding to requests.
- Completes electro-cardiograms (EKGs or ECGs) by attaching electrodes to the patient’s chest, arms, and legs.
- Completes treadmill stress tests by connecting patients to EKG monitors.
- Completes non-invasive peripheral vascular tests by collecting ultrasound echoes to form a screen image of the heart function, blood flow, and circulation.
- Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following asepsis standards.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- Registers patients by entering anticipated service data into the patient record, verifying medical history.
- Supports physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular ailments with the use of a catheter.
- Aids physician in performing invasive procedures.
- Performs related radiographic/fluoroscopic imaging techniques to demonstrate catheter location, position, and document findings.
- Maintains a well-stocked and clean work environment.
- Works collaboratively with the Cath Lab team to promote wellness and optimize patient outcomes and quality care.
Qualifications And Skills
- Must be able to provide proof of authorization to work in the US.
- Works well in teams.
- Can maintain composure during stress.
- Comfortable presenting technical data.
Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Diploma in Cardiovascular Technology from a University, Bachelor’s degree in cardiovascular technology, or an undergraduate certificate in cardiovascular technology.
