Job Summary
Position Summary
Technologist providing technical, patient support, and patient care. Communicates continuously with the physician about patient condition. Assist physician with invasive and noninvasive procedures and/or surgeries. Operates equipment safely and correctly. Assesses procedure room and/or surgical suite for equipment functioning and readiness. Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of the procedural and/or surgical team are met. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the cleanup of room following procedure to include appropriate disposal of used supplies, handling of instruments, returning and restocking supplies.
- Assists in positioning, prepping and draping patients for procedures. Gives patients explanations and verbal reassurances consistently.
- Sets up and scrubs for procedures in a timely manner maintaining aseptic technique.
- Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum Requirements- Experience: 2 years' experience in an acute care CVOR as a Surgical Technologist.
- Education: Graduated from an accredited two-year cardiovascular technology training program; or surgical technology program; or equivalent on the job training including a minimum three-month orientation.
- Must have advanced knowledge of cardiac anatomy and anticipate surgeon needs during complex cardiac surgeries (coronary artery bypass graft, mitral valve replacement, along with other complex surgical procedures)
