Cardiovascular Sonographer

About the Role

Proficient in scheduling, performing, and processing echo and/or vascular ultrasound examinations.

Requirements

• Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Required Certifications/Licensure: CPR certification (or within 3 months of employment); Registry eligible (ARDMS or CCI) in Echocardiography and/or Vascular Technology. Must obtain registry in either Echocardiography or Vascular Technology within 90 days of hire.
• Required Training: Successful completion of formal or occupational training specific to echocardiography and/or vascular sonography; excellent understanding of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Performs invasive and non-invasive echo and/or vascular procedures.
• Demonstrates excellent understanding of normal and abnormal cardiac anatomy, cardiovascular disease processes, and arterial/venous systems (pathology, morphology).
• Obtains patient history relevant to cardiac and/or arterial/venous disease states.
• Conducts brief physical exams applicable to cardiac and/or arterial/venous disease states.
• Clinically evaluates patients to determine appropriate testing levels.
• Administers echocardiogram image enhancement agents as indicated.
• Recognizes symptoms of cardiovascular distress.
• Operates advanced equipment requiring experience, judgment, and concentration.
• Available for on-call duty to maintain after-hours service.
• Participates in continuous quality improvement programs and education initiatives (e.g., in-services, workshops, seminars).
• Performs routine preventive maintenance and calibration on equipment; reports malfunctions and maintains records.
• Maintains professional rapport with Medical Director, Medical Staff, and Cardiovascular Staff.
• Works independently with minimal supervision.
• Performs additional duties as assigned or required by circumstances.

Pay

Sign-on bonus: up to $20,000.
