About the role
The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, under the supervision of the Cath Lab Manager, Associate Manager and direction of the Cardiologist, coordinates the technical and patient care component of cardiac and peripheral angiograms, interventions, and other invasive procedures. They monitor patients during procedure and record hemodynamics; assist the physician in performing all angiographic, interventional, implants, and other cardiac procedures. They are responsible for all aspects of patient care in accordance with hospital and department policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates technical and patient care component of cardiac and peripheral angiograms, interventions, and other invasive procedures.
- Makes sure patients are monitored during procedures and records hemodynamics.
- Aids the physician in performing angiographic, interventional, implants, and other cardiac procedures.
- Ensures all aspects of patient care adhere to hospital and department policies and procedures.
- Maintains a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
- Takes emergency calls with a 30-minute response time.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved school with an Associate Degree in Radiology Science, Cardiovascular Technology, Professional Nursing, or Emergency Medical Science with Paramedic Certification.
- Registered by ARRT, RN, RECS, or RCIS.
- Two years’ Cath Lab/EP experience preferred.
- For Paramedics with Associate in Applied Science in ENS with Paramedic Certification, must be registered with RCIS/RCES within 18 months of employment required.
- Maintain BLS certification.
- Achieve ACLS certification within 90 days of employment and maintain current.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients' status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements to their age-specific needs.
