Cardiothoracic Transplant Pharmacist Specialist

About the role

This exciting opportunity to join our Mayo Clinic Hospital Pharmacy Team is for a Cardiothoracic Transplant Hospital Pharmacist Specialist. This pharmacist will practice as a decentralized Pharmacist in the patient care areas in our hospital tower, as well as a clinical expert to support Transplant Practice at Mayo Clinic in Florida and drive the practice forward.

Responsibilities

• Effectively performs the activities and duties of the Pharmacist Specialist position with responsibilities including consultation, education, research and supervisory functions.
• Provides an expert level of guidance on medication use in the specialty area of practice.
• Serves as preceptor for Pharmacy Education program(s).
• Leads quality improvement projects in the specialty area of practice.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

• Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy - Pharm.D. or B.S. AND Completion of one of the following:
  • An accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency AND an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency in area of specialty
  • An accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency AND at least 2-years of relevant pharmacy practice experience in specialty area
  • At least 2-years of relevant pharmacy practice experience AND at least 2-years of relevant pharmacy practice experience in specialty area

Preferred Qualifications

• PGY2 Transplant Residency completion AND at least 1-year experience in Hospital Pharmacy Practice highly preferred.
• Proven history of establishing and maintaining a progressive clinical pharmacy practice in area of specialty.
• Experience in pharmacotherapy and/or pharmacy practice research, participation in scholarly activities including publication and scientific meeting presentations, and clinical teaching experience.
• Demonstration of leadership and team building skills.
• Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database applications.

Additional Qualifications

• Experience and/or interest in teaching required.
• Strong commitment to excellence.
• Project management and coordination skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively with others, and work independently with minimal supervision.

License and Certification

• Current, active Board Certification through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) in area of specialty or certification (EXCEPTION: Candidates with PGY2 training in area of specialty required to obtain board certification within 12 months of hire).
• Eligible for licensure by the Florida Board of Pharmacy.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 3 months of hire.
• Academic Appointment within 18 months of hire.
• This vacancy is not eligible for sponsorship/ we will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Pay

$125,000 - $188,000 annually

Schedule

• Full Time
• Hours/Pay Period: 80
• Primarily dayshift with occasional evening rotation
• Weekend Schedule: Every 5th weekend
