Position Overview

United Health Services (UHS) is seeking an experienced physician assistant (PA) to join their growing cardiothoracic surgery service line. The position is based at United Health Services Hospitals Wilson Square, Heart & Vascular Institute. The shift is from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a post-call day off during the week. One in three call shifts is shared with other PAs, including coverage of the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU).

Shift Details

Shift: 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with a post call day off during the week. 1 in 3 call shared with other PAs. After Operating Room cases (dependent on patient volume) would provide Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), coverage with 2 other dedicated CVICU PAs.

Position Responsibilities

  • Counsel patients about concerns under the direction of the supervising physician(s)
  • Round on patients admitted to the hospital; review care plans with nursing staff as established by our physicians
  • Absentee for call about patient conditions according to the pre-established schedule. Includes holiday responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient care
  • Absentee for Operating Room cases
  • Vein Harvest experience required
  • Absentee for Physical Assessments on patients and completing patient histories
  • Absentee for Completing discharge summaries
  • Absentee for Ordering medications, treatments, labs, etc.

Education And Skills Required

  • Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA)
  • Current licensure with the state of New York as a physician assistant (PA)
  • Completion of an accredited PA program
  • Master of Science in Physician Assistant related field
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Annual Compensation Range

Salary Range: $165,500 - $193,100 Annually
