About the role

Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute, a part of Atrium Health, is seeking a Cardiology Acute Care NP or PA to join their team. This role is an autonomous part of their team-based care model and utilizes providers to the top of their license and scope on their inpatient general cardiology service.

Responsibilities

  • Daily rounding and inpatient service triage
  • Evaluating new and established patients from the ER and on the cardiovascular service
  • Diagnosing, treating, and managing common conditions in the cardiovascular population
  • Writing emergent progress notes
  • Assessing and preparing patient workups and following core measures for documentation
  • Facilitating and ordering diagnostic studies including echocardiograms, stress tests, MRIs, CTs, and cardiac catheterization if indicated
  • Ordering appropriate laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures
  • Explaining the necessity, preparation, and risks and benefits of scheduled diagnostics and therapeutic procedures to the patient and family
  • Recognizing and responding appropriately to emergency situations
  • Participating in evaluations with the primary supervising physician as directed by State laws

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program
  • Current license to practice as a NP or PA in North Carolina
  • Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required
  • BLS/ACLS Certified
  • Nurse practitioners are required to have Acute Care Certification
  • Physician Assistants with certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants required
  • Maintain ACLS and BLS certification as well as all licenses and certifications as mandated by the Hospital Credentialing Committee

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience as a provider required
  • Experience in Cardiology
  • Highly motivated with superb communication and organizational skills
  • A commitment to providing quality care to the patients we serve in the Greater Charlotte community

Skills

  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Ability to work autonomously as a provider

Schedule
