About the role

As our Cardiac Monitor Tech II, you will be a vital part of CommonSpirit Health's Virtual Hospital in Phoenix, AZ, delivering essential virtual cardiac monitoring services to patients across the United States. This complex Level II Cardiopulmonary Technician position focuses on higher acuity patient care, performing remote surveillance for multiple locations, specific to cardio-pulmonary rhythms via a central monitoring station.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize highly advanced IT technology to continuously monitor up to 64 patients, expertly recognizing and recording potentially dangerous rhythm changes and arrhythmias
  • Accurately follow command center policy to promptly notify local RN staff of any critical changes, adhering to established standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Serve as a mentor and preceptor for Level I Cardiopulmonary Techs
  • Monitor patient's cardiac rhythms and/or oxygen saturation using appropriate cardio-pulmonary monitoring equipment
  • Obtain a baseline ECG strip on all monitored patients according to department guidelines
  • Record and post cardiac strips following established procedures
  • Update and verify patient data in the information system
  • Maintain unit/department-specific records as assigned
  • Recognize rhythms with the potential to alter the patient's physiology and obtain a documentary ECG strip
  • Immediately report all arrhythmias to the RN responsible for the patient following established protocols
  • Maintain current knowledge of the technical operation and capabilities of the central monitoring station
  • Maintain alarm systems according to established protocols and respond appropriately to monitor alarms
  • Identify/troubleshoot routine technical problems with the monitors and send work orders for maintenance/clinical engineering repairs as necessary
  • Handle incoming and outgoing communications, answer questions, and assist staff per established procedures
  • Provide/give accurate shift reports to other monitor technicians, relating to patient's condition and rhythm status consistently at every shift change
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all parties involved

Required Qualifications

  • Three (3) months of post-secondary education/training in a cardiopulmonary related field (e.g., cardiac monitoring, EKG technology, Emergency medicine, nursing, exercise science) OR graduation from one of the following accredited programs, including EKG Interpretation: Nursing Assistant (or military medical specialty training), Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
  • Minimum two (2) years of recent (within the past year) related healthcare work experience demonstrating attainment of the requisite job knowledge and abilities
  • Successful completion of a Basic EKG test is required within 90 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited program including EKG Interpretation (Monitor Technician OR CRAT or CCT)
  • Associate's degree in EKG Technology
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience
  • Two (2) years of work experience as a monitor tech or patient care technician

Pay

$21.96 - $31.01 /hour
