About the Role

The Cardiac Cath Lab Manager plays a vital role in providing leadership and strategic direction for the development and operations of the SRHS Cardiac Cath Labs. This position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with the Nurse Management Team and various disciplines within the healthcare organization. Reporting to the Director of Cardiovascular Services, the Cardiac Cath Lab Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Cath Labs while also helping to develop and implement policies, procedures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies.

By providing leadership, strategic direction, and fostering collaborative relationships, the Cardiac Cath Lab Manager contributes to the delivery of high-quality care and positive patient outcomes. Responsibilities include scheduling and coordinating procedures and personnel to meet physician and patient needs while ensuring compliance with SRHS institutional goals and patient care standards, including those set by regulatory bodies such as DNV. The manager sets the tone for patient surroundings, influences the efficiency and safety of procedures, and participates in the observation and care of patients during catheterization.

The Cardiac Cath Lab Manager helps develop the annual business plan, create budgets, set goals, and manage resources to achieve business objectives. They ensure quality metrics are on track and drive continuous improvement, serving as a liaison with physicians to ensure alignment and achievement of expected outcomes within the Cardiac Cath Lab service line. The manager also develops interdepartmental Performance Improvement activities to enhance the quality and efficiency of services provided within the Cardiac Cath Labs.

The Cardiac Cath Lab Manager serves as a role model within the department, demonstrating a commitment to handling all matters involving self and others in a professional and impartial manner.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Cardiac Cath Labs.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Schedule and coordinate procedures and personnel to meet physician and patient needs.
  • Set the tone for patient surroundings, ensuring efficiency and safety of procedures.
  • Participate in the observation and care of patients during catheterization.
  • Develop the annual business plan, create budgets, set goals, and manage resources.
  • Monitor and drive quality metrics and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison with physicians to align and achieve expected outcomes.
  • Develop interdepartmental Performance Improvement activities.
  • Act as a role model within the department, demonstrating professionalism and impartiality.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Master of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Mississippi.
  • Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
  • Must maintain ACLS certification.
  • Five (5) years of critical care and/or Cath lab nursing experience required.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Moderately active work involving sitting, moving about the office, and traveling within the SRHS service area.
  • Exerting negligible force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects, including the human body.
  • Using many physical motions in daily work activities; exposure to body fluids, sputum, and tissues, which may carry infectious disease hazards.
  • Repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and fingers (e.g., operating a computer keyboard).
  • Ability to perceive sound at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
  • Close visual acuity and ability to adjust focus (e.g., shifting gaze from a computer monitor to printed material).
  • Ability to be active for extended periods without undue fatigue.
  • Flexibility to work assigned schedules, including off days, shifts, or weekends as needed by the hospital.
