Responsibilities

  • Assist in the execution of manufacturing operations, including part placement in jigs, removing subassemblies from jigs, graining/grinding, drilling, cleaning, and/or passivation of finished products using appropriate tools.
  • Perform Special Processes such as Riveting, Bonding, and Torquing by completing all necessary qualifications and meeting requirements.
  • Use tools such as torque/Allen wrenches, measuring tape, drill, and sander (pneumatic/battery).
  • Assist in carrying out inspections (e.g., dimensional) and tests (e.g., watertightness) following Alstom’s guidelines and requirements.
  • Elaborate and suggest the creation of devices/templates using drawings to minimize repetitive operations and improve processes continuously.
  • Check reception of materials issued by the warehouse and properly store them to maintain workplace order, tidiness, and efficiency.
  • Obtain necessary certifications (e.g., crane) and qualifications (e.g., manlifts).
  • Assist in performing daily production shear tests and collecting welded specimens for tensile testing.
  • Ensure logistic bins are filled with the correct material and temper for daily production shear testing or other quality assurance tests.
  • Read blueprints or work instructions, set up jigs and fixtures, and safely use a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Work in compliance with Alstom Zero Deviation Procedures and Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations.
  • Perform caulking and finish sealing operations in accordance with Alstom standards.
  • Communicate effectively with Supervision, Engineering, and Quality Departments regarding design or material changes.
  • Adapt to different work assignments and maintain a clean working environment.
  • Assist welders in achieving company and customer requirements.
  • Support new process development and troubleshooting of products.
  • Utilize digital technology in day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by supervisor/manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in sheet metal or fabrication.

Skills

  • Experience with automatic/hand-operated burning equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints/work instructions and interpret weld symbols.
  • Proficiency with hand/power tools.
  • Adaptability and customer focus.
  • Ability to accept and apply feedback, as well as provide feedback to leadership and team members.
  • Knowledge of fabrication and application of jigs/mechanical principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and order of operations.
  • Acceptable hand/eye coordination and ability to pass a visual acuity test.
