Capital Projects & Contracts (Construction) Manager
About the role
The Manager will partner with clients to solve complex business problems and provide impactful advice and solutions. They will develop lasting relationships with client personnel and serve as an ambassador of Protiviti in the market.
Responsibilities

- Foster a network within the business community
- Facilitate the successful completion of project work plans
- Mentor, train, and coach Consultants and Senior Consultants
- Evaluate, summarize, and interpret project and financial data to communicate risks, trends, findings, and recommendations to project leadership and executive stakeholders
- Translate and communicate issues, risk, or challenges to client personnel, including executives
- Support claims analysis, dispute advisory, and forensic review of project data
- Manage and evaluate contractor performance and subcontractor oversight processes
- Conduct audits of project controls, governance frameworks, and capital program management practices
- Identify and mitigate risks related to cost overruns, delays, scope creep, and contractor disputes
- Coordinate across stakeholders (owners, contractors, engineers, and third-party vendors)
- Manage project timelines, milestones, deliverables, and reporting to key stakeholders
Requirements
- Understand construction project planning, management, monitoring, and delivery
- Be familiar with key stages of the construction project lifecycle
- Auditing construction projects or capital programs by evaluating controls, testing compliance with contract terms, analyzing project data, and identifying opportunities to improve transparency, accountability, and performance
- Familiarity with construction, project management, and project controls tools
- Evaluate, summarize, and interpret data
- Build and maintain business relationships and a professional network, including with senior executives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline (e.g., Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field)
- 5+ years of experience in Consulting, Construction, Engineering, Project Controls, or Capital Project Management, within professional services or industry
- Experience with project management tools and construction systems (e.g., Primavera P6, Procore, e-Builder, Kahua, CMIC, or similar) is a plus
- Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, PE, or similar are a plus
Skills
- Construction and capital project processes such as: Project planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management across the project lifecycle
- Contract strategy, procurement, and vendor selection (e.g., EPC, design-build, CM at-risk)
- Contract administration, including change order management, claims mitigation, and dispute resolution
- Monitoring project performance against budgets, schedules, KPIs, and risk indicators
- Ensuring compliance with contract terms, safety regulations, environmental standards, and regulatory requirements
- Reviewing construction documentation, including drawings, specifications, schedules, and project controls reports
- Managing and evaluating contractor performance and subcontractor oversight processes
- Conducting audits of project controls, governance frameworks, and capital program management practices
- Identifying and mitigating risks related to cost overruns, delays, scope creep, and contractor disputes
- Coordinating across stakeholders (owners, contractors, engineers, and third-party vendors)

- Leading and supervising teams including conducting performance appraisals, mentoring and coaching, oversight and review of work, coordination across teams, and understanding how to motivate

$104,000.00 - $166,000.00
