Capital Project Engineer - Food Manufacturing
A worldwide manufacturing company operating in over 70 countries with more than 160,000 employees is hiring a Capital Project Engineer for its Ottumwa, IA facility. This role plans, supports, and executes engineering deliverables across core technology and engineering areas, working independently on complex issues while developing and applying engineering standards and procedures within the food manufacturing environment.
About the role
This role plans, designs, and estimates time and cost for construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, systems, and components, while analyzing and developing solutions to engineering problems related to manufacturing equipment, systems, and component failures. The engineer will handle complex issues independently with minimal supervision, escalating only the most significant issues as needed.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate staffing and development of construction, commissioning, and start-up plans
- Lead equipment specification and procurement
- Develop, review, and award bid packages for equipment and labor
- Informally mentor and coach early-career engineers through hands-on training and project work
- Manage multimillion-dollar budgets
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field
- Minimum of 4 years of related engineering work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to execute large capital projects or a portfolio of projects
- Previous experience in food manufacturing
Pay
$100,000 to $140,000 annually
