Capital Project Engineer
About the role
The Capital Project Engineer position offers an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. You will lead capital engineering projects that support growth, cost reduction, EHS improvement, and equipment/facility renewal. You will lead diverse teams including electrical, facilities, design, technical experts, and operations to deliver project expectations.
Responsibilities
- Tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world.
- Lead engineering projects through multi-disciplinary teams.
- Integrate manufacturing and laboratory business issues/needs into project planning.
- Control project costs and schedules, and present project status and results to business partners, suppliers, team members, and appropriate management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) AND three (3) years of project management in a private, public, government or military environment.
- OR Associates degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) AND five (5) years of project management in a private, public, government or military environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.
- History of successful execution of projects including final performance in the factory.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Able to effectively present project plans and status to management.
- Team player with the ability to positively contribute to a multidisciplinary environment.
- Knowledge of Process Safety Management and Mechanical Integrity industry practices.

Pay & Benefits
The expected compensation range for this position is $145,676 - $178,049, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. Details are available at this link.
Work Location
This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Cottage Grove, Cottage Grove MN.
Travel
May include up to 10% domestic/international travel.
Relocation
May be authorized.
