Capital Planning Analyst I
About the role
Assists in the execution of financial analysis and business improvement in support of capital adequacy processes, including Comprehensive Capital Analysis & Review (CCAR), and enterprise-wide stress testing. This role supports all Fifth Third Bancorp lines of business and assists in the coordination of Fifth Third's capital planning processes, focusing on value-added analysis, process improvement, quality assurance, and business controls.
Responsible for risk management by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and adhering to policies and procedures. Accountable for ethical actions that drive a positive customer experience while operating within the Bank’s risk appetite.
Responsibilities
- Understand and identify key business factors (internal and external) impacting capital planning processes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of existing and emerging industry issues.
- Collect, aggregate, and analyze forecasted financials and supporting documentation from across the Bancorp.
- Document financial plans and analysis for senior management meetings.
- Evaluate and improve report designs and processes to ensure analytical tools evolve with business changes.
- Perform maintenance on existing schedules and reports for updated information.
- Prepare and analyze reports for all lines of business and affiliates; investigate and document unusual items.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with Finance, Risk, and LOB personnel to support enterprise-wide capital planning.
- Collaborate with line of business participants and CCAR process teams to improve the control environment and drive consistency.
- Support process improvement initiatives for consistency and sustainability in capital planning.
- Provide guidance to stress test participants on updating and maintaining control documentation, including process flows and policy documentation.
- Verify and document compliance with the risk management/control framework for Fifth Third’s Capital Planning Process.
- Seek opportunities to enhance the Capital Adequacy Process and actively participate in process improvement and problem resolution.
- Provide recommendations and action plans to support growth and mitigate observed risks.
- Attend meetings to stay informed of current and emerging issues and risks in focus areas.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CFA, or CPA preferred.
- Knowledge of GAAP strongly desired.
- Zero to two years of accounting or finance-related experience in industry or public accounting.
- Proficiency with MS-Windows and related PC applications.
- Desire and ability to learn automated data analysis tools and techniques.
- Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills for interacting with personnel at all levels.
- Demonstrated proficiency in performance measurement tools and technology.
- Ability to work both individually and as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain professional composure in a dynamic work environment with multiple tasks.
- Demonstrated sound judgment and logical/critical thought processes.
