About the role
Nexamp is looking to hire a Capital Markets Associate to join its Capital Markets team. You will play a central role in evaluating, structuring, executing, and managing financing transactions across Nexamp’s distributed generation (“DG”) and utility-scale project portfolios. We are accepting candidates across our hub offices of Chicago, IL, and Boston, MA, where you will be hybrid. You will report to the Director, Capital Markets.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, maintenance, and review of complex project-level and portfolio-level financial models for DG and utility-scale projects throughout the project lifecycle, including acquisition, development, financing, construction, and operations.
- Evaluate and model debt, tax equity, tax credit transfer, and other structured financing alternatives, including complex ownership, partnership, and capital structures.
- Lead defined workstreams in the structuring, negotiation, and execution of financing transactions for individual projects and project portfolios, working under the direction of senior Capital Markets and Project Finance leadership.
- Own transaction execution plans, closing and funding checklists, internal workstreams, and deliverable tracking, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to identify and resolve issues and keep transactions on schedule.
- Prepare and review transaction presentations, financing summaries, investment memoranda, and internal approval materials for senior management, investment committees, financing counterparties, and other stakeholders.
- Manage key aspects of existing financing facilities, including lender and investor reporting, covenant compliance, consent and waiver requests, financial model updates, and coordination with financing counterparties.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in project finance, capital markets, investment banking, renewable energy finance, infrastructure finance, private equity, or a related field.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling expertise, including the ability to build, modify, review, and audit complex project-level and portfolio-level models, scenario analysis, debt sizing, returns.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and experience preparing transaction presentations, investment committee materials, financing recommendations, and executive-level summaries.
- Strong understanding of project finance principles, including cash flow waterfalls, debt service coverage ratios, loan amortization, tax benefits, capital accounts, financing fees, and project or investor return metrics.
- Direct experience financing distributed generation, community solar, utility-scale solar, energy storage, or other renewable energy assets preferred.
- Knowledge of federal renewable energy tax incentives, including the Investment Tax Credit, Production Tax Credit, tax credit transferability, prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements, domestic content, and energy community adders preferred.

Pay
The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Nexamp ranges from $99,000 - $114,000. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual bonus programs based on individual and company performance, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans). Additionally, you may be eligible to participate in the Company’s stock option plan. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but is not limited to, skills and qualifications, internal equity, performance, and geographic location.
