About the role
Supervise the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and management of mobile crane activities within Minera Panamá’s mining operations, ensuring compliance with all safety standards and operational procedures.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of mobile crane operators and support personnel (riggers/maneuvering staff).
- Plan and execute lifting operations, including assessing load weights, selecting appropriate rigging, and ensuring crane and load stability.
- Perform pre-operational checks and routine inspections on mobile cranes, identifying and reporting any defects or malfunctions.
- Ensure all lifting equipment and accessories are in optimal working condition and properly certified for use.
- Implement and enforce all company safety policies and procedures related to crane operations, including conducting safety briefings.
- Train and mentor crane operators, ensuring they possess the necessary skills and certifications.
- Maintain accurate records of crane operations, maintenance, and inspections.
- Collaborate with other departments to optimize lifting schedules and resource allocation.
- Respond to and investigate incidents or accidents involving mobile cranes, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Oversee the proper storage and handling of crane components and accessories.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mobile Crane Operator, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role, preferably in a heavy industrial or mining environment.
- Current certification and competency for mobile crane operation.
- Solid understanding of crane load capacity charts, rigging techniques, and lift plans.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant safety regulations, standards, and best practices for crane operations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and operational manuals.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a challenging and dynamic environment.
- Valid Type I driver’s license.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
