Description

Queen Community House's Friendly Visiting Program matches homebound older adults aged 60 and above with volunteers in their community, creating meaningful relationships. The program also aims to reduce isolation and loneliness amongst older adults based in Western, Central, and Southwest Queens.

Requirements

• Must be 18 and over
• Provide 2 non-related references
• Be open to committing to 6 months of volunteerism
• Consent to a background check

Qualifications

• Cantonese or Mandarin speaking
• Visit an older adult based in East Elmhurst
• Client enjoys sewing, exercising at home, listening to music and watching news on the iPad
• Can go for walks with the client (weather permitting)
• Can grab a coffee nearby
• Can assist with technology
• Can have general conversation
