Summary

There are 7 full-time positions.

  • Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, records, and MPS information.
  • Works in tandem with school bus drivers to ensure students are transported safely and securely to and from school.
  • Enforces District policies and rules of conduct.
  • Assists in monitoring students while on the school bus for proper school bus safety behavior and conduct.
  • De-escalates and resolves issues as they arise.
  • Provides customer service to parents and guardians, answers questions, and explains District rules.
  • Communicates effectively with children.
  • Collaborates as a team member, with colleagues, staff, and community representatives.
  • Follows verbal and written instructions.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with co-workers, clients, and community agencies.
  • May be required to work outside normal business hours and work extended hours to accomplish the requirements of the position.
  • May be required to assist students with ingress and egress from vehicles.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as determined by Human Resources.
  • Knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, and regulations covering specific areas of assignment.
  • Basic record keeping and records management.
  • Safety rules and regulations.
  • Skill in managing student conduct and behavior.
  • De-escalation techniques and practices.
  • Recognizing potentially dangerous situations on the bus.
  • Working without close supervision in standard work situations.
  • Reacting quickly to situations that could create personal stress and safety problems.
  • Communicating effectively with children.
  • Collaborating as a team member, with colleagues, staff, and community representatives.
  • Following verbal and written instructions.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers, clients, and community agencies.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

  • Work is performed on a school bus and on school premises, with moderate physical requirements.
  • Requires occasionally assisting students with ingress and egress from vehicles.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

License and Certification Requirements

  • A valid Minnesota State Driver’s License may be required.
