Full-time, benefits-eligible position with a 40-hour workweek, primarily on weekdays.

About the role

Responsible for the organization, maintenance, and efficient operation of the Tumor Registry System. Maintains a registry of cancer patients with information including demographic data, cancer characteristics, history, diagnostic procedures, diagnosis, stage, extent of disease, treatment, and follow-up information. Coordinates Tumor Conference activities with physicians for review of patient cases. Provides a working index of statistical data available to medical staff and for general registry use. Complies with the policies and procedures of the hospital, the Cancer Life Program, and the guidelines of the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and maintain the Tumor Registry System.
  • Record and update patient information, including demographics, cancer history, diagnostic procedures, diagnosis, staging, treatment, and follow-up data.
  • Coordinate Tumor Conference activities with physicians for case reviews.
  • Provide statistical data for medical staff and registry use.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, Cancer Life Program procedures, and American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Two years of college or accredited record technician experience, or equivalent (3-5 years) in a medical records department preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, behavior of benign and malignant tumors, staging and coding systems, classification, and treatment of tumors, gained through formal education, on-the-job training, or college courses.
  • Two years of experience working in a CoC-accredited hospital-based oncology registry/cancer program is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Certification by the National Cancer Registrars Association is preferred and required within 3 years of employment.
  • Record Technician Accreditation preferred.

Pay

Pay range: $25.30 - $37.95 per hour.
