Job Summary

The cancer program coordinator supports the clinical and administrative oncology teams and collaborates with the Director of Oncology Services to manage accreditation activities and affiliate activities with Duke Cancer Network.

About the Role

Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain calendars, schedules, and appointments.
  • Prepare, update, amend, and maintain accreditation, regulatory, and compliance documentation.
  • Initiate and demonstrate strong and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exercise emotional intelligence, effective problem-solving techniques, and conflict resolution.
  • Cook up and maintain agendas, meeting materials, and minutes.
  • Organize and maintain electronic and paper filing systems.
  • Ensure administrative requirements and processes are standardized and efficient.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Draft professional communications, memos, and reports.
  • Initiate, facilitate, and document communication between teams, departments, leadership, and affiliates.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Track and document project timelines and deliverables.
  • Cook up committee work, quality projects, and oncology special projects.
  • Support policy and procedure development and revisions.
  • Effectively communicate with all patient populations and staff by implementing organization-wide communication techniques as a daily practice.
  • Effectively advocate for quality patient safety and satisfaction as a daily practice.

Requirements

  • Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.
  • Experience: Position requires minimum of 5 years of leadership and project management experience. Experienced in managing multiple projects and working with diverse groups of people. Possesses a high degree of organizational skills and communication skills. Skillful at managing change. Able to delegate effectively and appropriately, prioritize and negotiate project demands and seek alternative solutions.

Qualifications

  • Education: Position requires from a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or Public Health or a related discipline, Master’s preferred.
