Cancer Center Patient Services Representative

About the role

This position is responsible for interviewing patients to gather all pertinent account information, including up-to-date demographics and insurance coverage verification. You will ensure all required patient signatures are present for treatment, medical records, and insurance processing, and present necessary documentation to patients while making them aware of hospital policies and procedures related to admission and treatment.

Additionally, you will assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of all business office staff in the hospital setting, working closely with the Business Office Supervisor to provide leadership to the team. You will help coordinate business office coverage and personally assist where needed.

Duties may be added or subtracted based on the organization's needs.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients to gather account information, demographics, and verify insurance coverage.
• Ensure all required patient signatures are obtained for treatment, medical records, and insurance processing.
• Present necessary documentation to patients and inform them of hospital policies and procedures related to admission and treatment.
• Assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the business office staff.
• Provide leadership to business office team members in collaboration with the Business Office Supervisor.
• Coordinate business office coverage and assist where needed.

Requirements

• Knowledge of computerized office systems.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, math, grammar, and spelling, typically acquired through completion of a high school education or equivalent.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment with patient populations of acute, chronic, and complex disease processes.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions, detect and resolve problems, and react effectively in stressful and emergency situations.
