Summary

Ensures that client health needs are met through direct patient care and coordination of multidisciplinary health care providers, ensuring seamless communication and adherence to health regulations and standards.

Primary Performance Objectives

  • Ensure the flow and appropriateness of the day-to-day health care of clients to include preventive health and wellness, health education, disease prevention and treatment in collaboration with the consulting psychiatrist, physician, dentist, school personnel, state and local health care agencies and ECH staff.
  • Timely scheduling, coordination, and follow-up of medical, dental, vision and specialist appointments.
  • Complete initial and follow-up actions as recommended by providers.

Job Task Summary

  • Perform medical procedures and manage medication administration to residents as ordered by the attending physician(s) within the scope of generally accepted nursing practices.
  • Function professionally as a member of the Epworth team and is available for input as needed concerning client health.
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of client health information.
  • Conduct monthly audits of medication administration records and report errors, discrepancies and deviations to the Director of Residential Services and the Senior Director of Residential Services.
  • Participate in the Epworth PQI process as assigned.
  • Complete Preliminary Medical Examination on new clients within 72 hours of admission.
  • Ensure 100% of clients receive dental care, vision care, and well-checks within 30 days of admission and all recommendations/follow up care are completed.

Qualifications

  • Current SC or compact state license as an LPN required, RN preferred.
  • Certified in basic life support.
  • Must have up to date personal liability insurance.
  • Certified by the American Red Cross to teach CPR and First Aid within 60 days of hire.
  • Minimum of five years' experience as a licensed nurse.
  • Ability to pass standard background checks, including drug screen, employment physical, SLED, DSS Central Registry and Sex Offenders Registry.
  • Belief system and engagement in faith practices compatible with those of the United Methodist Church.
  • Proficient with various software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and electronic communication.
  • Knowledge or ability to learn any database system required.
