Job Summary
The Kent Intern-in-Service program is a ten-month campus ministry initiative geared towards recent college graduates who seek to grow personally, professionally, and spiritually, and to support the mission of the Catholic Student Center (CSC).
The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area. The Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO serves as the headquarters and curia for the Archdiocese.
Job Responsibilities
- Welcome all students with a hospitable presence on the WashU campus and at the CSC.
- Help students connect their lives and their faith in tangible ways and empower student leaders to participate in their faith actively.
- Aid in liturgies, programming, and assigned responsibilities.
- Lead or participate in established programming, including:
- Service and Social Justice (faith mission)
- Evangelization and Education (faith formation)
- Outreach (building community and relationships)
- Administrative and Communications (event planning and publicity)
Job Requirements
- Compensation:
- Housing and food provided at the Herring Intern House.
- Monthly stipend to assist with personal expenses.
- Funding for retreat and/or other formational experiences.
Hiring Timeline
- Applications, including noted requirements, are accepted until June 1, 2026. The internship will start on August 1, 2026, and end on May 31, 2027.
Application Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Practicing Catholic and a willingness to represent the Catholic Church as a minister.
- Ability to challenge students to grow socially, spiritually, intellectually, and morally, and to offer constructive feedback.
- Ability to work with all backgrounds, cultures, and levels of faith/religion.
- Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal, and writing skills.
- Scheduling flexibility that allows working almost every Sunday, several evenings every week, and occasional Saturdays and holidays.
- Technology proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google, and social media.
- Valid driver’s license.

Job Focus
- Service and Social Justice – Faith Mission: Coordination of local service opportunities and assistance with the planning of our service trips. Education of students specific to Catholic Social Teaching and key social justice issues that are relevant to the campus, St. Louis, and the world.
- Evangelization and Education – Faith Formation: Coordination of programs that increase our student’s faith IQ and help form them into disciples of Christ through programs such as Bible Study, OCIA, and small faith-sharing groups. Articulation of personal faith and the faith of the Catholic Church in ways that are relevant to students’ lives.
- Outreach - Community and Relationships: Building community for our students at the CSC and on campus through programs and faith-filled relationships. Initiating encounters with new and returning students in a variety of contexts. Inviting students into a relationship with community and God.
- Administrative and Communications - Event Planning and Publicity: Providing support for CSC programs, including publicity, recruiting and coordinating volunteers, logistical support, and event execution.
