SMS is hiring for a Datacenter Network Architect role supporting the AFCENT NOSC contract at Shaw AFB, SC. AFCENT’s mission is to deliver combat-ready air, space, communications, and cyberspace capability for USCENTCOM, helping maintain security and stability throughout Southwest Asia. The role supports the AFCENT Commander, USCENTCOM, coalition and joint partners, and warfighters who rely on NIPRNet, SIPRNet, partner networks, and other command-and-control systems. The AFCENT NOSC program focuses on running and protecting a 24/7 enterprise network and systems operations, including cybersecurity, engineering, maintenance, and technical support.

Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer campus/datacenter architecture.
  • Provide CONUS and OCONUS TDY/travel support as required.
  • Provide functional training, meetings, briefings, and documentation/reports support.
  • Provide technical and general operations & maintenance (O&M) support.
  • Support WAN Enterprise, LAN, and general networking.
  • Provide general IT management support.
  • Develop reports and trend analysis documentation on bandwidth and network security incidents.
  • Analyze networking metrics to identify sub-par network performance.
  • Design campus network architectures using Wireless LAN expertise to ensure seamless user mobility between WLAN access nodes without service interruptions.
  • Configure, design, and maintain datacenter network architecture equipment.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a related field and 3+ years of relevant IT experience, or 5+ years of relevant IT experience.
  • Knowledge of network threats and experience providing feedback to enhance collection and analysis.
  • Experience with Microsoft server installation, roles, Active Directory, storage, performance management, and maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of 802.1x.
  • Proficiency in routing protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and MPLS.
  • Thorough understanding of IP concepts, including routing, VLANs, QoS, tuning, and capacity management.

Qualifications

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
  • VMware Certified Technical Associate (VCTA).
  • ITIL Foundation (candidate has up to 60 days to acquire certification).
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain an Interim Secret clearance.
