About the role

The goal of this position is to plan, implement, evaluate, and support comprehensive PK-12 G/T and STEM programs. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required, with a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience preferred, particularly in G/T or STEM teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and support the mission, vision, and values of Harmony Public Schools
  • Plan, implement, evaluate, and support all G/T and STEM services at the campus
  • Develop an annual professional development plan for G/T staff, classroom teachers, and administrators
  • Chair the District Gifted and Talented Advisory Committee and plan/convene committee meetings
  • Maintain the G/T student database and files, and monitor the campus G/T budget
  • Conduct G/T screening, complete correspondence with parents, and disseminate student testing results
  • Audit school-based G/T services for compliance with district plans
  • Advocate for the needs of G/T students, maintain an accurate list of identified G/T students, and hold parent meetings as necessary
  • Assist with coordinating school academic teams and competitions, and track G/T professional development requirements
  • Develop, revise, and update the Gifted Education Program and Service design on campus
  • Assist teachers in developing differentiation for gifted and talented students
  • Implement procedures for identifying gifted and talented students, and remain current on research in gifted education
  • Manage and evaluate the school’s gifted and talented program, and support STEM initiatives and program implementation
  • Coordinate STEM SOS Model PBL projects, serve as PLTW site coordinator, and maintain the Makerspace if needed

Skills

  • Effective written and oral communication with all levels of management
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing software
  • Data analysis, effective interview techniques, public speaking, and problem-solving skills

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

The position involves light work, with occasional light lifting, and may require nights and weekend activities. The work environment is primarily in an office/classroom setting, with moderate travel required.
