Camp Health Director Yaphank, NY

About the role

The Health Director is responsible for implementing all medical requirements described in the camp safety plan submitted to the Suffolk County Department of Health and ACA as well as ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws.

Responsibilities

• Review, evaluate, protect, and maintain campers health records;
• Secure and administer medicines and treatment to campers according to physicians orders;
• Record all treatment according to established procedures and report required incidents to the local health department within 24 hours;
• Determine when a camper must receive attention from a physician or other medical professional and arrange transportation as needed;
• Provide training to camp personnel as needed including, but not limited to first aid, epi-pen assist, inhaler assist;
• Oversee the initial health screening of campers and provide a weekly safety briefing as needed to staff and campers;
• Maintain supply inventory in the Health Center and submit order requests as needed.

Requirements

• RN, licensed to practice in New York State;
• Certifications in CPR/AED and epi-pen;
• Able to lift 20 pounds;
• Able to meet travel requirements associated with this position;
• Able to meet acceptable background check standards;
• Able to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience or background in school, visiting, or public health nursing.
