Waypoint Academy delivers core academics through self-directed, AI-driven adaptive applications that condense traditional instruction into a concentrated morning block. No classroom lectures. This structure liberates you to focus on the work that genuinely transforms student outcomes.

Your morning may begin with a one-on-one coaching conversation with a Guide, analyzing student performance data to identify where a group is struggling. By midday, you're outside facilitating workshops that build teamwork and resilience through authentic challenge. Afternoons are dedicated to motivation work: meeting individually with students to understand what drives them and mobilizing disengaged learners toward their objectives. You maintain your own student cohort throughout, ensuring you coach others from active practice rather than distant memory.

You've likely been the outlier in traditional education: too analytical, too outcome-oriented, too comfortable taking students outdoors and allowing productive struggle. This may be the first environment that values those instincts.

You begin coaching other Guides immediately, and as you produce measurable results, the standards you establish influence the entire cohort while your authority within the program expands. You witness impact directly: a doubtful student beginning to own their trajectory, a Guide becoming more effective because you offered honest feedback, a young person emerging from an outdoor challenge visibly more capable.

What You Will Be Doing

• Develop the Guides on your team: analyze performance metrics, observe their student interactions, and conclude each session with concrete action steps that address performance gaps.
• Facilitate one-hour outdoor workshops focused on life skills, where K-12 students develop leadership, resilience, collaboration, and communication through adventure-based activities.
• Conduct motivation sessions informed by student analytics and Coachbot insights to activate every student toward goal achievement and personal ownership of progress.
• Maintain your own student cohort while coaching other Guides, ensuring your leadership is grounded in current hands-on experience rather than outdated practice.
• Monitor student satisfaction, goal attainment, and Guide effectiveness on a weekly basis to identify and address underperformance before it escalates.

What You Won't Be Doing

• Delivering academic lectures or providing subject tutoring. Students progress through self-directed adaptive technology, frequently without direct adult instruction.
• Creating curriculum or designing lesson plans from the ground up. Established playbooks are in place; your focus is implementation fidelity and delivery energy, not innovation.
• Training Guides on instructional pedagogy. Since Guides don't lecture, you coach them on motivation techniques, accountability practices, and relational presence with students.
• Compromising standards to avoid conflict. You will not advance unprepared students or overlook Guide underperformance.
• Confining students indoors to seated activities. A significant portion of learning at Waypoint occurs outdoors through structured challenge.

Camp Director Key Responsibilities

• Ensure that every student in your cohort develops a genuine love for school, demonstrates academic growth, and acquires the character and life skills necessary for long-term success.

Basic Requirements

• Willing to work in person at Waypoint Academy in Dripping Springs, Texas
• Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, business, outdoor education, recreation, youth development, or a related field
• At least 5 years in education, youth development, coaching, outdoor education, or learning and development (L&D)
• Track record of leading a team of 5 or more adults, including hiring and performance-based termination decisions
• Direct experience working with youth ages 5-18 in an educational or developmental setting
• Built, launched, or significantly grew a program, team, school, or outdoor initiative from the ground up, with a specific and measurable example
• Proven use of data and metrics to set goals and drive decisions, not just report results
• Legally authorized to work in the United States

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Master's degree in a related field
• Coached athletics, led wilderness or experiential programs, directed camps, or ran youth programs at a scale that required running cohorts and measuring outcomes
• Left classroom teaching to build or run programs from a different seat: EdTech, tutoring, youth nonprofits, or school intervention teams
• Early-career track record of high personal performance, academic, athletic, or professional, before moving into leadership
• Belief that the standard education model is broken and personal investment in rebuilding it
