About the Role

Under the direction of the Family Programming Director, the Camp Counselor is responsible for implementing camp activities for children ages 2 to 15 years old, ensuring a safe, clean, and fun environment while executing the department's established guidelines and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and supervise campers ages 2 to 15 years old.
  • Provide a safe, clean environment by picking up toys, wiping down equipment and counters, and cleaning workspaces after activities.
  • Ensure all campers are supervised at all times.
  • Complete all items on the opening and closing operations checklists.
  • Greet parents and children with a smile and invite children to join activities.
  • Engage with children at all times, with a special focus on older, shy, or bored children; comfort and assist children in need.
  • Organize and implement age-appropriate activities such as sports scrimmages, arts & crafts, and group games.
  • Transfer campers to and from activities within the Club.
  • Treat children with responsive respectfulness, coaching rather than scolding, and discuss behavior tactfully out of the child's hearing.
  • Communicate timely and follow up as appropriate.
  • Actively participate in events, programs, meetings, training, and camp marketing events.
  • Represent the club professionally through image, dress, communication, and immediate follow-through.
  • Communicate important information to parents in a detailed and professional manner.

Requirements

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience caring for children in a daycare or camp environment.
  • Professional, friendly manner with excellent customer service attitude and abilities.
  • Strong verbal communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Enthusiastic, responsible, and dependable team player.
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative, and willing to acquire new skills.
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented.
  • Computer literate.
  • CPR certification required.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to arrive at work on time for all scheduled work shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Must be flexible, adaptable, and able to adjust to changes in the work environment.
  • Daily public contact, including dealing with unpleasant or angry individuals and problem-solving difficult situations.
  • Frequently required to use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must occasionally sit for extended periods and regularly walk around the facility.
  • Must occasionally talk and hear.
  • Frequently move 10 pounds and, in the event of an emergency, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Pay

Estimated Base Pay Range: $16.80 - $19.00 / hour
