Join a mission-driven team at the forefront of shaping the future of directed energy warfare. This high-impact team is modernizing the Navy High Energy Laser Weapon System (HEL-LWS) architecture using cutting-edge MBSE practices, Atlassian integration, and digital engineering tools that tie requirements, safety, testing, and modeling into one living ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Update and refine the HEL-LWS Cameo model across top-level, subsystem, and component-level structures.
- Develop and maintain Block Definition Diagrams (BDDs), Internal Block Diagrams (IBDs), Activity, Sequence, and State Machine Diagrams, System Requirements Tables.
- Ensure model consistency, traceability, and alignment with HEL-LWS architecture and program documentation.
- Import and synchronize Jira-managed requirements into Cameo to maintain authoritative, configuration-controlled requirement elements.
- Establish and maintain traceability between requirements, behaviors, interfaces, and structural model elements.
- Support verification and validation alignment between Zephyr test procedures, execution logs, and Jira requirements.
- Utilize the Cameo 882 Plug-in to modernize HEL-LWS system safety artifacts; import and integrate Hazard Tracking System (HTS) data into Cameo.
- Support hazard analysis, mitigation tracking, and safety-related requirements development.
- Maintain cross-tool integration between Cameo, Jira, Zephyr, and Confluence to support government reporting, configuration management, and digital thread continuity.
- Ensure seamless linkage between requirements, test artifacts, and model elements to support program reviews and technical baseline updates.
- Contribute to the development of SE documentation including SRDs, SSRDs, ICDs, and interface definitions.
- Support technical reviews, design updates, and engineering discussions with Navy stakeholders.
- Provide MBSE expertise to improve modeling practices, digital engineering workflows, and system architecture clarity.
- Perform other technical duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in System Engineering (SE), Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a closely related technical discipline.
- 3+ years of experience using Cameo Systems Modeler for MBSE, including architecture development, requirements modeling, interfaces, and behavior modeling.
- 3+ years of Systems Engineering experience supporting Naval weapons systems.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level; US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite (Jira, Zephyr, Confluence) for requirements, test case development, and reporting.
- Experience with Navy System Safety processes and MIL-STD-882.
- 3+ years of SE experience with High Energy Laser or Directed Energy Weapon systems.
- Experience generating SE artifacts such as System Requirements Documents (SRDs), Subsystem Requirements Documents (SSRDs), and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time.
- Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically.
