About the role
It is the responsibility of the Call Receiver Associate to function primarily as a call-taker telecommunicator, receiving, recording, and effectively managing requests for ambulance assistance/transport from various sources. The Call Receiver Associate will offer pre-arrival instructions as indicated.
Responsibilities
- Respond to customer needs accordingly.
- Understand and adequately implement the concepts of Emergency Medical Dispatch as published in Principles of Emergency Medical Dispatch (and as customized by GMR) as a minimum standard of care.
- Allocate EMS (Emergency Medical Services) resources properly as the need arises by applying appropriate decision-making rules and approved protocols.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of paperwork related to the position prior to the completion of the shift.
- Perform accurate and complete data entry for the shift, including State Run Report data entry as assigned.
- Generate applicable reports and verify their accuracy.
- Assist in locating the scene of incidents and selecting the safest, fastest route using all available locator aids.
- Relay instructions from supervisors, messages, and emergency information.
- Maintain a current working knowledge of all company policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and memorandums.
- Follow established parameters/formats in receiving requests for service.
- Operate and maintain knowledge of equipment, including computers, printers, 911 equipment, recording devices, telephones, and other assigned tools.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain competency and enhance professional growth through continuing education, conferences, and seminars.
- Demonstrate positive behaviors, approaches, attitude, and commitment to interpersonal service toward customers, visitors, and coworkers.
- Comply with information systems security policies and procedures, including attending training, reporting security problems, and following security protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- One (1) year of experience as an EMS or Public Safety Dispatcher.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Skilled in reading and writing English.
- Ability to communicate clearly on the radio and telephone.
- Ability to record, transmit, and report information accurately.
- Ability to efficiently utilize all assigned equipment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Good typing skills with the speed and accuracy necessary to process emergency and non-emergency calls.
- Basic understanding of computer applications.
Pay
$23.62 - $28.81 per hour
