About the role
Legacy: A Journal of American Women Writers, founded in 1984, is the only journal focused specifically on American women writers from the seventeenth through the early twentieth centuries. We seek a Digital Media Editor to research, write, and post content on the journal’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and Bluesky) and newly redesigned website.
Responsibilities
- Create social media posts about news items, exhibits, collections, and other content appealing to our target audience.
- Collaborate with the Legacy editorial team to develop promotional content for the journal and individual issues.
- Edit and proofread digital content written by other team members.
- Attend biannual editorial meetings.
- In the second year, propose, solicit, edit, and publish an online forum in the journal’s Legacy Salon (in consultation with the Editor).
Requirements
- ABD in or a recent PhD from an English Department or related field, with a dissertation project substantially focused on American women writers up to 1950.
- In-depth experience (personal or professional) with social media platforms.
- In-depth experience with WordPress.
No prior editing experience is required.
