About the Role

The Inspector Calibrator ensures the accuracy and reliability of measuring instruments and equipment by calibrating, testing, and maintaining them according to established standards. This role plays a crucial part in quality control, ensuring equipment functions correctly and measurements are precise. Under minimum supervision, the Inspector Calibrator performs all duties of an Inspector A, inspects parts and assemblies, and calibrates inspection measuring gauges and equipment using all types of precision instruments.

Responsibilities

  • Applies knowledge of manufacturing and sub-assembly operations, tools, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Writes inspection reports and maintains accurate records.
  • Coordinates work and sets up inspection gages for other inspectors.
  • Assists in the training of other inspectors.
  • Follows written calibration procedures and creates calibration reports.
  • Sets up and maintains statistical quality control charts and procedures as directed by Quality Assurance.
  • Monitors gage requests/requirements at suppliers.
  • Demonstrates advanced mechanical aptitude.
  • Uses standard shop math, basic trigonometry, and knowledge of machine shop and assembly operations.
  • Moves gages and metrology materials to and from work area.
  • Performs other duties as directed by supervision.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and related work experience in mechanical inspections and calibrations.
  • 3-5+ years of experience at the Inspector A level plus at least 2 years of demonstrated calibration experience.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in using basic and advanced calibration tools, inspection tools, and gages.
  • Proficiency with computer hardware and software.
  • Previous experience with Gage Track/Gage Calibration software is preferred.
  • Ability to calibrate mechanical, fluid, pressure, and electrical gages and tooling.

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting up to 25 lbs. regularly and 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Pushing, pulling, standing for long periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity, visual acuity, and typing.
  • Must pass required eye tests and may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Must meet the US persons criteria.

Skills

  • Standard arithmetic skills.
  • Experience with standard shop math and basic trigonometry.
  • Full knowledge of machine shop and assembly operations.

Pay
