Calibration Technician III

About the role

Transcat is a dynamic, innovative, growing company that provides calibration and compliance services in various industries. This position is open to candidates with a minimum of four (4) years of commercial calibration experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform calibration work with little to no supervision
• Proficient in Electrical calibrations
• RF Calibration experience is a plus
• Conduct independent research when necessary
• Cook up daily workloads without direction from manager
• Maintain calibration standards
• Understand and apply uncertainties to measurements made
• Read and interpret labs' scopes of accreditation
• Work effectively with lab support staff
• Working knowledge and competency in six (6) disciplines and expert in two (2) disciplines preferred
• Perform calibrations within a laboratory or customer onsite setting
• Work at customer on-sites with little to no direction
• Fulfill duties safely under working conditions, in keeping with Company requirements and standards
• Other duties as assigned
• Travel requirement: up to 50% of work schedule

Qualifications

• Successful completion of assigned training materials through on-the-job training, online content, LMS, and classroom led instruction
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Self-motivated learner with the ability to learn new skills related to calibration and calibration processes
• Ability to take direction and learn from feedback
• Ability to communicate well with supervisor, solve problems effectively, and work both independently and as part of a team
• 3+ years driving experience with a valid driver’s license
• Required Education and Experience: Associates degree from college or technical school, or four+ (4+) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Preferred Education and Experience: Four+ (4+) years of commercial calibration experience, CCT or CMT certification, previous experience or training in electronics or machining, extensive statistical background, familiarity with basic hand tools, proficiency with Microsoft Office computer software including Word, Excel, and Outlook

Pay range is $33.00 - $38.00 / hr.

Skills

Advanced organizational and time management skills

Experience in PMEL, PME, TMDE, Metrology, Calibration, ASQ CCT, METCAL, GPETE, Electronics, GCAMS, or Avionics

Physical Demands

• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and vibration
