About the role
Caleb Brett, a division of Intertek, is seeking a Chemical Laboratory Technician to join our team in Romeoville, IL. This role involves performing chemical and physical analyses primarily on petroleum products, supporting our global cargo inspection and analytical assessment services for oil, gas, chemical, and commodities markets.
Responsibilities
- Perform numerous chemical and physical tests based on ASTM methods or accepted industry standards in multiple test areas
- Assist with equipment calibration, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting
- Clean glassware and test equipment
- Assist with preparing reagents as needed
- Record data on appropriate data sheets and report data to LIMS system
- Maintain quality records, control charts, and lab supply inventories
- Comply with safety, quality, and housekeeping requirements
- Participate in cross training as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record
- Ability to multi-task in high production testing areas
- Good math and observation skills
- Excellent team communication, coordination, and cooperation
- Ability to follow standard and non-standard procedures
- Ability to utilize non-complex and complex instrumentation
- Ability to work overtime as business needs dictate
- Ability to regularly lift/carry up to 44 pounds
- Ability to occasionally lift/carry up to 49 pounds
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Willingness to work with exposure to various chemicals
Preferred qualifications
- Successful completion of at least one semester of college-level chemistry
- Prior work experience in a laboratory environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word and Excel
Pay
$30 - $35/hr
