Starting hourly rate: $15.00 USD per hour.

As a Cake Decorator, you’ll enable a consistent guest experience by ensuring product is fresh, in stock, available, and accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. This role can provide you with skills and experiences in guest service, building guest relationships, cake and dessert trends, and cake decorating fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience by greeting guests, helping them find what they need, and resolving issues.
• Deliver an exceptional guest experience by maintaining a fresh and abundant shopping environment, prioritizing guest needs.
• Execute Food & Beverage processes, including food deliveries, replenishment, straightening merchandise, instocks routines, data accuracy, culling, rotation, cleaning, signing, and organizing and storing reserve product.
• Engage with guests to capture and fulfill customized cake orders.
• Uphold and maintain Food & Beverage standards.
• Produce, package, and label items to specifications on production cards, following department routines to drive sales, instocks, and profitability.
• Prep, ice, and decorate cakes and cupcakes that are seasonally relevant and follow production card specifications.
• Follow all food safety requirements, including monitoring and recording the temperature of sensitive food items.
• Locate and identify damaged, recalled, or expired items and process them according to Target’s policies.
• Use sampling and suggestive selling to promote products and increase sales.
• Follow proper perishable inventory procedures to ensure accurate recording of inventory.
• Appropriately use and care for in-store and personal protective equipment; follow equipment control guidelines.
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; work safely and report hazards.
• Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick-up (OPU), and Drive-up (DU) while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
• Perform all other duties based on business needs.

Requirements

• Enjoy interacting and helping others, including guests and team members.
• Thrive in a fast-moving, highly active, and physically demanding role where teamwork, flexibility, and creative problem-solving are key.
• Open to working a flexible schedule with varying hours, days, or shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays, and other peak shopping times).
• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• Previous cake decorating experience preferred but not required.
• Artistic skills to design and execute customized desserts.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
• Ability to communicate using multiple frequency devices, handheld scanners, and other technology equipment.
• Work both independently and with a team.
• Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.
• Remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.
• Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues.
• Interpret instructions, reports, and information accurately.
• Handle cash register operations as needed.
• Climb up and down ladders if needed.
• Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without additional assistance.
• Work in environments that include refrigeration, freezer temperatures, and common allergens.
• Capable of working in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing job duties.
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of scheduled shifts (shift length may vary).
