About the role
We are seeking an experienced Cagewash Technician II to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in Gaithersburg, MD. As the Cagewash Technician II, you will independently perform cagewash and sanitation functions while supporting overall vivarium operations with increased technical proficiency and responsibility. Assist animal care activities and contribute to efficient workflow, quality standards, and compliance with SOPs.
Responsibilities
- Perform cagewash and sanitation duties efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Operate cagewash equipment and systems, including proper use of detergents, disinfectants, and wash parameters.
- Identify and address routine sanitation or process deviations and escalate more complex issues when necessary.
- Conduct routine troubleshooting of cagewash equipment and assist with preventive maintenance activities.
- Inspect cages and equipment to verify cleanliness and quality standards.
- Manage receiving, stocking, inventory control, and storage processes.
- Maintain accurate documentation, labeling, and inventory records.
- Support animal care operations by assisting with cage preparation, staging, and transportation of animals and materials as needed.
- Monitor workflow priorities and contribute to operational efficiency.
- Identify and escalate process inefficiencies, safety issues, or compliance risks.
- Model safe work practices and assist with onboarding and training activities when assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum one year experience performing cage wash operations in a laboratory animal facility.
- Experience with the safe handling of chemicals, detergents, and disinfectants.
- Previous experience performing receiving technician duties.
Qualifications
Evidence of achievement of AALAS certification at the ALAT level or above preferred.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $23 to $24 USD per hour. Salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
