Responsibilities
- Performs daily production, serving, and cleaning duties for the school lunch program.
- Serves as a point of contact for students, assisting them with making healthy menu selections.
- Assists in the preparation of foods using standardized recipes and menus, and portion controls in accordance with work production standards.
- Sets up food on serving lines and/or steam tables and serves meals or meal components.
- Conducts the cashiering function in accordance with established financial and accountability procedures.
- Cleans and sanitizes all equipment and work areas including the kitchen floors, walk-in refrigerators, and storage areas.
- Fulfills Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) procedures and food safety standards.
- Maintains production records, HACCP logs, and satellite control sheets.
- Properly stores food and supplies.
- Transports food from the base complex to the receiving school, if required.
- Reports to any site in the complex as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- One (1) year experience in the field of food service is preferred.
- Possession of a valid class C Maryland driver's license or an equivalent is preferred.
- Knowledge of school system's safety, procedural, and policy guidelines, and applicable safety regulations.
- Ability to understand and speak English.
- Ability to maintain good relationships with teachers, students, and other employees.
- Good human relations and communications skills.
Physical And Environmental Conditions
- The work of this class is performed in a kitchen and cafeteria environment.
- Duties require frequent lifting and carrying including objects up to 50 pounds.
- The ability to bend and kneel on a regular basis.
- The ability to stand for three hours or more consecutively.
- The ability to withstand extreme temperatures of hot and cold.
Conditions Of Employment
- Annual completion of continuing education/training in accordance with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Professional Standards for School Nutrition Employees.
Grade
Grade 01 - 10 Month AFSCME Pay Scale
SALARY
$15.30 - $20.95 (Hourly Base Pay Scale for All Employees Represented by AFSCME)
Other Compensation
- This position may also be eligible for shift differential and longevity as per the AFSME Master Agreement and Memorandum of Understanding.
