Cafeteria Support - South Middle School Campus
Qualifications
A level of education necessary for reading and following written food menus and work schedules.
Basic ability to read and speak/understand English.
General knowledge of materials and methods used in preparing and serving meats, breads, vegetables and other foods on a large scale.
General knowledge of the use or care of food preparation equipment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, students and school staff.
Ability to maintain emotional control.
Ability to work with others in a close fast paced environment.
Ability to address students, staff, and visitors in a pleasant, courteous manner.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare food items according to written and verbal instructions.
Serve breakfast and lunch items to students and staff.
Replenish food items and maintain organized, clean serving areas during meal service.
Assist with preparation tasks for the following day’s meal service. - Follow all personal hygiene and food safety procedures.
Demonstrate knowledge of sanitation and food handling practices.
Monitor and record food and equipment temperatures according to required guidelines.
Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and serving environment. - Operate the point of sale system and handle cashiering duties, to track amount food taken.
Accurately record meals served and maintain required daily records and logs.
Receive food deliveries and assist with stocking and rotating inventory.
Ensure proper storage and organization of food and supplies. - Provide courteous and respectful service to students, staff, and visitors.
Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and positive teamwork.
Participate in school nutrition promotions, special events, and community activities when needed. - Participate in required training and professional development.
Follow assigned schedules and time reporting procedures. - Perform additional related duties as assigned to support the school nutrition program.

Work Environment
The position will work predominantly Monday – Friday at their assigned location.
