Cafe' Staff Associate

The Café Service Staff will joining the Frick during an exciting period of renewal and change, as the museum seeks to become an actively anti-racist organization that can serve as a vital resource for the entire community. This is a part-time, hourly, United Steelworkers represented position reporting to the Café Manager, with a maximum of 28 hours per week. The Café is open 9:00 to 4:00 Tuesday through Sunday, requiring flexible scheduling including weekends, some holidays, and occasional special evening events.

About the role

Through excellent customer service, provide visitors to The Café at the Frick with an outstanding dining experience. Perform all aspects of the front side of the Café—including cashier, host, server, busser, sales, stocking, opening/closing, and cleaning—while fostering positive internal and external relationships and bringing energy and enthusiasm to the café.

Responsibilities

• Become familiar with daily features, lunch, and dessert items
• Assist with food preparation and have a working knowledge of the current menu to explain all items to guests
• Service tables in a professional, efficient, and friendly manner
• Welcome guests, answer questions, and direct them to the counter to order
• Operate POS systems, process payments, and handle cash
• Perform opening and closing sidework
• Assist with dishwashing and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and front of house
• Keep beverage areas stocked and organized, and perform service bar duties
• Stock supplies and inform the Café Manager if items are low
• Work with the Café Manager to handle any visitor issues and ensure customer satisfaction
• Treat visitors and colleagues with respect and courtesy at all times
• Perform other duties as requested by management

Qualifications

• Enthusiastic, professional, and positive attitude
• Serving experience preferred
• Flexibility in working a varied schedule, including weekends, holidays, and occasional evening events
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Clearance of a criminal background check
• Become RAMP and ServSafe certified if not already (paid by Frick)
• Commitment to fostering a workplace culture of equity and inclusion

Pay

Hourly rate of $14.76, plus shared tips.

Schedule

Up to 28 hours per week, with flexible scheduling. The Café is open 9:00 to 4:00 Tuesday through Sunday.
