CAD Technician III

Collects and inputs survey and engineering data into a CAD/CAM/CAE software database, providing specific deliverables to construction and field survey teams in the form of GPS Machine Control Models, surfaces, linework, and visual documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assesses engineering requirements and translates them into technical blueprints, drawings, layouts, and simulation models using CAD/CAM/CAE software, ensuring drawings meet product design goals.
• Demonstrates advanced understanding and usage of CAD/CAM/CAE design and drafting software platforms.
• Oversees modeling and design duties that require site authorization or have legal precedence.
• Reviews and provides feedback on work products for subordinate CAD Technicians.
• Acts as lead technician for design changes and updates.
• Collaborates effectively within a team environment.

Qualifications

• Fully proficient in a range of technical processes and procedures through job‑related training and extensive on‑the‑job experience.
• Capable of completing a variety of atypical assignments and working within defined technical processes, while helping determine approaches for new assignments.
• Works with limited supervision; focused on complex new assignments.
• Serves as an informal resource for less‑experienced colleagues.
• Minimum: High School Diploma or GED; Associate or bachelor’s degree in drafting or survey preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of Computer Aided Design (CAD) support and/or experience required.
• Preferred: Current or former experience with Zachry.

Physical Demands

• Communicates in person, via telephone, email, video chat, and software systems.
• Works from an on‑site office on construction sites and industrial facilities, requiring mobility on the ground and at heights.
• Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vest, gloves, and work boots.

Work Environment

• Operates in multiple settings: office, warehouse, and trailers or buildings on construction sites.
• Construction site noise levels range from moderate to high.
• Surrounded by light to heavy equipment, vehicles, materials, communication equipment, tools, and personnel.
• Typical activities include standing, walking, sitting, signaling, talking, and exposure to bells, whistles, and alarms.
