CAD Technician - Aviation
POSITION OVERVIEW
As a CAD Technician at LJA in our Transportation department, you will be responsible for supporting airport planning and engineering projects through the development of accurate CAD drawings, Airport Layout Plans (ALPs), technical exhibits, and construction documents. In this role, you will apply FAA design standards and Advisory Circular requirements to create and customize project deliverables that meet the unique needs of each airport. You will collaborate closely with planners, engineers, and project managers to develop documentation for airport infrastructure, pavement, and modernization projects while ensuring quality, consistency, and regulatory compliance. Working within the Airport Design Hub, you will contribute to standardized design solutions that improve efficiency and support successful project delivery across a variety of airport clients.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering technology, drafting, or aviation design (preferred)
- Advanced proficiency in Civil 3D
- Familiarity with FAA Advisory Circular 150/5300-13B
- In-depth knowledge of FAA Advisory Circulars, ALP standards, and airport planning workflows
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience in aviation-related CAD drafting and design (preferred)
- Proven track record leading drawing production on large-scale airport or aviation planning projects.
