CAD Manager
About the role
EXP’s Infrastructure & Transportation Practice provides comprehensive planning, design, and construction engineering services for all types of roadway, bridge, water resource, rail, transit, and aviation projects. We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic CAD Manager for our Chicago office to help deliver Transportation & Infrastructure projects. You will report to the Structural Bridge Department Manager and work in compliance with our hybrid work policy.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the project team to develop, implement, and monitor CAD design standards and procedures to meet project requirements.
- Solve technical issues, provide training and oversight, and resolve CAD system and quality issues.
- Identify opportunities and recommendations for increasing workflow efficiencies.
- Recommend best practices for solutions to meet or exceed project requirements.
- Train and supervise CAD users in core application skills and standards.
- Maintain documentation records of generated design deliverables.
- Maintain positive working relationships with all levels of the organization, outside vendors, clients, and key project stakeholders.
- Ensure project documentation and contracts comply with client standards.
- Develop 3D models and train engineering staff in modeling techniques and digital delivery workflows.
- Serve as the primary technical resource for MicroStation, OpenRoads, ProjectWise, and related CAD applications.
- Manage deliverable preparation, electronic transmittals, and quality reviews before submittals.
Requirements
- At least 7+ years of practical experience.
- Associate's degree in a related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of IDOT and Tollway CAD workspaces and CAD policies and procedures.
- Strong understanding of Bentley design software (MicroStation, Open Bridge Modeler, GEOPAK, OpenRoads Designer, and ProjectWise).
- Experience with 3D modeling, digital delivery, rendering, and visualization workflows.
- Strong soft skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience in the civil engineering marketplace or construction industry is preferred.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $120,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate’s skill set, experience, certifications, and geographic location. Compensation may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor.
